Glimpses of the Sea - IV

Hi to all my friends and visitors! Some will have noticed that I haven't been posting images very often of late. Finding time to do that is the problem. I'm going to take another period of 'time out' so I won't be blogging for a while. I will leave Azure Globe on-line and I can still be contacted. Glimpses of the Sea - III

This frame really fits the title 'glimpses of the sea' more appropriately as the view of the sea here is largely screened by the foreshore dune vegetation. I suppose it's a bit of a tease as one needs to peer through the jumble of branches to make out the line of breakers beyond. I thought Nature turned on a good display of cloud for my morning walk, the images of which are recorded in this current series of scenes.

Glimpses of the Sea - II

A second shot in my Glimpses of the Sea series found as I continued my morning walk. I don't think it is as attention grabbing as the first shot but to my eyes it is nevertheless a pleasant and inviting view. I am trying to include some of the foreshore elements in these scenes with the sea forming a part of the view.

Again, I used a graduated ND filter to reduce the brightness of the sky and sea. Even so, it was still necessary to add fill light in the RAW conversion step of processing. Dodge, burn, levels and sharpening brush were employed as well. Juggling the sliders in Photoshop's black & white adjustment is a tool I use to relatively alter tone levels. I could have cloned out the lens flare from the sun but chose in this case to leave it in shot. I think it accentuates the intensity of the light.

Glimpses of the Sea - I

This is the first of a new series of black and white landscapes I am presenting which feature glimpses of the sea I found on a morning walk just near my apartment.

I used a graduated ND filter on my D70 for these.

Noise is quite apparent on most of them; I apparently left the ISO set to 1600. It doesn't bother me as it somewhat approximates film grain and I like the scenes in any case.

I've been busy with other matters so my blogging is presently almost stopped. I do expect to get back to it when I have more time. However, for now I am posting a third b & w shot of the Path to Tallebudgerra Beach.

Dune Vegetation - Palm Beach

Continuing with images from my little compact camera, here is another dreamy shot looking across the dune vegetation at Palm Beach to a sea dissolved in atmosphere and light.

I really should make the effort and re-shoot these scenes with my D70 SLR. It's lazy summertime here and I have been traveling light; that is, without the heavy load of the SLR backpack.

Simply another view under the bridge at Tallebudgerra Creek. I'm a little uneasy with the overexposure of light flooding in from outside and the mood of emptiness and loneliness under here.
