As a change from the recent black & white landscapes, I have posted this photo which depicts sea watchers; local people from Currumbin, who have gathered to watch the ocean and dusk sky as the urban lights gradually come to life along the coastline.
I am trying an experiment in posting large size photos on this blog. I have seen other sites with full screen images and thought they looked impressive, enveloping the viewer in an immersive experience. Many PC users have large screen monitors nowadays so it might be nice to take advantage of that trend.
It was necessary to make a template change to accomplish this so I modified an 'Horizon' theme for the purpose.
I'd be interested in anyone's comments and opinions, good or bad, about this style of presentation.
Love the angle and feel of the shot. Neat perspective. Christopher @ 2009-09-26
I think the larger images work. It does help to bring you into the photo. Love this. Especially the ghost images. Robert @ 2009-09-29
The wide angle is amazing, the combination of stillness and movement of the 'ghosts'. bluechameleon @ 2009-09-29

woooahh!!! The best photo I´ve seen today! Love the mood and the neatly surreal atmosphere in this shot! Amazing! Pasci.it @ 2009-09-30
This is a superlative image Gavin...the sky is wonderful and the minimal range of color, the distant lights, the HDR (?)motion blur all combine to make this a great image...*****and in my collection at VFXY:) Pavan Kaul @ 2009-09-30
Menuda panoramica, me gusta como la gente parecen fantasmas, ante el cielo a punto de descargar una tormenta, tiene un toque dramatico. Alex @ 2009-10-01
Love the melancholy mood. Great shot Charles @ 2009-10-01
Just feel the sky and time goes by. Great moment and I love the slow shutter capturing movement and so as the people just standing still to feel this.
I love this shot, Gavin. Ben @ 2009-10-01

Wow, excellent shot! Love everything here :) Robert Kruh @ 2009-10-02
Sticking to the large format is the right step. However, with a vertical resolution of 1080px I have difficulties with the big portrait format images.
